Summer in Savannah, summer on the menu
Summer in Savannah is something else. The light is long. The air is heavy. And the produce is at its best. The farmers we work with start bringing in stone fruit and berries, and our weekly menu follows their lead.
Here is what to look for in our cases this season.
Stone fruit and berries
- Peach Scobbler. Our take on a peach cobbler, in scone form. Fresh peaches, brown sugar, a hint of cinnamon.
- Very Berry. A mix of fresh berries folded into the dough, finished with a light glaze.
- Strawberry Shorty. Strawberries and cream baked right in.
- Blueberry. Always on the menu, and at its best in summer.
Bright and citrus
- Lemon Blueberry. Tart lemon, sweet blueberries. A classic for a reason.
- Key Lime. A scone version of the pie.
Cool and creamy
- Coconut cream. Toasted coconut, soft cream filling, a tropical lean.
- Honey vanilla. Local Savannah honey and real vanilla.
A summer breakfast plan
Pop in early. Mornings in Savannah are the best part of the day in summer, and we are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. (8 a.m. downtown) until 1 p.m. or until sold out. Grab an iced coffee, a scone, and head to one of the squares for a few quiet minutes before the heat sets in.
If you are visiting from out of town, save room. You will want to take a few home.
