Downtown Savannah Coffee Shop
July 30, 2026 · 3 min read

Downtown Savannah doesn't need another place to grab a coffee. It needs one worth slowing down for. Congress Street early in the morning, before the tour groups find their footing, is about the best hour this city has, and we're lucky enough to have a front-row seat.
Where is the coffee shop in downtown Savannah
Savannah Scone Company's Downtown Coffee Shop & Scone Shop is located at 31 W Congress Street in downtown Savannah, Georgia, steps from City Market and Ellis Square. It is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm and serves coffee and fresh scones from the weekly rotating menu. The shop is closed on weekends.
What to order
The short answer is a coffee and whatever scone catches your eye, because the scone menu changes weekly. Ten or more handmade flavors rotate through each week, sweet and savory, and the current lineup is always posted on the weekly menu. Scones are baked very early each morning at our Midtown Bakeshop and arrive downtown the same morning, so everything in the case is same-day fresh.
Come early if you've got your heart set on something. We bake in small batches, and when a flavor's gone, it's gone until it comes back around.
A morning stop on a downtown walk
The shop sits in the middle of the historic district's best walking territory. City Market is around the corner, Broughton Street's shops are two blocks south, and the squares that make Savannah famous unfold in every direction. A coffee and a scone at 31 W Congress is a natural first stop before a morning of wandering, or a mid-morning reason to circle back.
Weekday mornings are the whole rhythm here. Locals on the way to work, visitors starting their day early, and the smell of coffee doing most of the advertising.
Visiting from out of town
If you fall hard for a flavor and then have to fly home, you're not out of luck. We ship nationwide, so your souvenir can be breakfast next weekend too. Not quite the same as eating it on Congress Street, but it's close.
Savannah rewards folks who start their mornings early, and so do we. Come find us on Congress Street some weekday morning, order something warm, and let the day take its time getting started. That's the whole idea, honey.
