Bakery Assistant — Savannah, GA

Part-time / Full-time · 3:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (as early as 3:00 a.m. in peak seasons)

Savannah Scone Company is seeking a Bakery Assistant to join our team and rapidly growing business. The ideal candidate is a dependable self-starter, willing and motivated to learn, with a positive attitude, solid organizational skills, and upward agility as the role grows. The successful candidate will be integral to SSC's growth and may be eligible for promotion into leadership over time. Previous baking experience is not required but is a plus; some food prep experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Weigh and measure ingredients
  • Set oven temperatures and monitor/modify as needed
  • Decorate product to customer specifications or bakery standards
  • Package finished products for display and sale while following food safety regulations
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen including proper storage of ingredients and equipment
  • Provide excellent customer service, assisting customers with orders and answering product questions
  • Follow recipes accurately for consistent quality
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and maintain efficient workflow
  • Use the Point of Sale system as needed
  • Prepare and fulfill shipping orders as needed
  • Clean and sanitize prep areas, workstations, and equipment using a triple-sink process
  • Adhere to all food handling and safety guidelines
  • Comply with health and safety guidelines and company policies including the U.S. Food Code, dress code, and hygiene standards
  • Follow opening and closing checklists
  • Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality

  • Able to operate kitchen machinery and automation
  • Reasonably comfortable with new technology
  • Able to stand for extended periods in a fast-paced environment

Requirements

  • Previous food prep experience required
  • Baking experience not required but is a plus
  • Familiarity with food safety standards and practices
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
  • Passion for the food industry and creativity in baking a plus
  • Flexibility for various shifts including very early mornings, weekends, and holidays based on business demands

Education & Experience

  • 18 or older
  • Reliable transportation
