Baker — Savannah, GA

Part-time / Full-time · 3:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. (as early as 2:30 a.m. in peak seasons)

Savannah Scone Company is seeking a Baker to join our team and growing business. The ideal candidate is a dependable self-starter who is willing and motivated to learn, with a positive attitude, solid organizational skills, and the agility to grow as the role grows. The successful candidate will be integral to SSC's growth and may be eligible for promotion into leadership over time. Previous baking experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Follow recipes accurately for consistency in taste and presentation
  • Monitor inventory of baking ingredients and supplies and place orders as necessary
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the baking area in compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Collaborate to create new recipes and improve existing offerings
  • Use the Point of Sale system as needed
  • Prepare and fulfill shipping orders as required
  • Assist in prep tasks to support overall operations
  • Follow opening and closing checklists
  • Work with the customer service team to replenish baked goods and other items
  • Clean and sanitize prep areas, workstations, and equipment before and after use
  • Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality

Requirements

  • Proven baking experience (scratch-baked/handmade scones a plus)
  • Knowledge of various baking techniques and equipment
  • Able to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards
  • Excellent time management to meet production deadlines
  • Able to work flexible hours including early mornings
  • A passion for scratch-baking
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitization standards
  • Compliance with all health and safety guidelines and SSC policies including dress code and hygiene
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs (flour bags, baking trays, etc.)

Education, Certifications & Experience

  • 18 or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Reliable transportation
  • ServSafe Certification required (a probationary period to earn it may be provided)
