Scone Baker (Overnight)

Savannah Scone Company is seeking a full-time Scone Baker to join our team. To be successful, you are a dependable professional who is motivated and has baking experience in a commercial kitchen. Must have a positive attitude, apply attention to detail, and have the desire to grow professionally.

We’re in a great midtown location with ample FREE PARKING.

This is an early morning schedule beginning at 1AM Wednesday thru Saturday with some flexibility as needed (35-40 hours per week). We also work on Tuesday beginning at 5AM for weekly prep and planning. The bakery is closed Sunday and Monday so you will always have those days off.

You will be integral part of the team. Previous baking experience is required and we will give preference to candidates who have experience baking hand-formed pastry. Experience in a commercial kitchen is required. ServSafe certification is a plus but is not required.

As part of the interview process, you will be required to walk us through baking something from a recipe and may be asked to demonstrate a workflow.

Starting Compensation: $14.00-$16.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Weigh and measure ingredients.
  • Mix and blend batter by hand.
  • Roll, knead, cut, and shape dough by hand to form scones and other related products.
  • Set oven temperatures and monitor or modify as needed using multiple timers.
  • Ice, glaze, and decorate baked goods.
  • Monitor and maintain ingredient inventory.
  • Work with customer service staff to replenish baked goods and other items.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen, prep areas, workstation, and equipment before and after use.
  • Comply with all health and safety guidelines and SSC policies and procedures, including adherence to dress code and hygiene.
  • Willingness to take on any task in the bakery as needed.
  • Follow opening and closing checklists.
  • Maintain consistent work attendance and punctuality.

Education & Work Experience Requirements

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age, or older.
  • Must have experience working in a commercial kitchen with baking experience.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Work Availability

  • Must have the flexibility to work various shifts, including very early mornings, weekends, and some holidays, based on changing business demands.

Baker Assistant (Overnight)

Savannah Scone Company is seeking a Baker Assistant to join our team in midtown Savannah. Must be a dependable professional who is motivated and has experience in a commercial kitchen. Please do not apply if you do not have commercial kitchen experience. Must have a positive attitude, attention to detail, and a desire to grow professionally.

We’re in a great midtown location where PARKING IS FREE. We’re closed Sunday and Monday so you will always have those days off.

This position requires an early morning schedule typically beginning at 1AM Wednesday thru Saturday with some flexibility. We target 25-30 hours per week but the schedule may vary slightly. You will also be required to work on Tuesday beginning at 5AM for weekly prep.

This position represents an important part of the team at our bakery and has potential to promote to Baker for motivated candidatesPrevious commercial kitchen experience is required, preferably in a bakery. We will consider candidates without bakery experience based on other work history.

Starting Compensation: $13.00-$15.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Ice, glaze, and decorate baked goods.
  • Monitor and maintain ingredient inventory.
  • Work as a runner to replenish retail baked goods and other items.
  • Clean and sanitize the kitchen, prep areas, workstation, and equipment daily. This may include washing pans, utensils, bowls, and sweeping, mopping, and general cleanup of the bakery. Every team member is responsible for keeping the bakery clean and sanitary.
  • Comply with all health and safety guidelines and SSC policies and procedures, including adherence to dress code and hygiene. No body jewelry is permitted in the kitchen due to food safety.
  • Follow opening and closing checklists.
  • Maintain consistent work attendance and punctuality.

Savannah Scone Company, founded in 2019, is a locally-owned bakery. We started as a cottage bakery and quickly outgrew our home kitchen on Skidaway Island. We offer our customers a small batch hand-crafted alternative to mass-produced or industrialized bakeries. All of our scone products are made with love, each and every day.

Even though we’ve outgrown our home kitchen, we will never change the artisan aspect of the scones we make while providing excellent customer service to our customers.
